Become a Scholarship Program Donor

Thank you for your interest in the Raiders Rojos Scholarship program. Since 2000, the program has awarded over half a million dollars to first-generation students enrolled at Texas Tech University. To become a donor, please complete the form provided below. After you submit your information, our Executive Programs Director will reach out to you with next steps. In the meantime, we have compiled the following frequently asked questions for your convenience located below.

FAQs

  • Donations for scholarships are accepted at any time throughout the calendar year. However, there is a specific timeline for awarding scholarships so that it aligns with Texas Tech University’s deadlines for tuition each semester.

    Our standard scholarship application period opens annually from May 1 to June 30. If you wish to have your scholarship awarded during the Fall Recognition of Donors and Recipients event held usually in August each year, please ensure that your funds are processed by July 1 so that they can hit your recipient’s tuition balance in time to start school in September.

  • Raiders Rojos Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations made for scholarships are tax-deductible.

  • To obtain naming rights for a scholarship, a minimum donation of $1,000 is required.

    Donations of less than $1,000 are also fully welcomed and appreciated; these contributions are pooled into the general scholarship fund and awarded as Raiders Rojos Alumni Association Scholarships.

    All Scholarship Program donations are only used toward scholarships to students, and are not utilized toward operations cost of the organization - ensuring that all money goes directly to the students.

  • If you donate $1,000 or more, you have the option to name the scholarship in honor of a specific individual, business, or have it carry your own family name. Naming rights also is an amazing way to honor a loved one who may have passed.

    The ability to name your scholarship also makes being chosen for it by your recipient that much more of an honor, as their scholarship would carry an additional meaning beyond being just a financial support in their degree journey,

  • All eligible scholarship applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee. Applications are scored using a rubric that considers merit, financial need, awards, honors, and a personal statement. Donors may indicate preferences for majors or career paths. Recipients are matched to donors based on these preferences, though more specific preferences may be more difficult to accommodate.

  • All scholarship recipients are required to attend the recognition event in the fall as a condition of receiving their award. Both donors and recipients are invited to the Annual Raiders Rojos Scholarship Recognition Event, which takes place in August prior to the start of the Fall term.
