Raiders Rojos Winter 2025 Newsletter

To mark the beginning of the new Raiders Rojos Alumni Association, and it starting its own 501(c)(3), the Board of Directors will be releasing a Quarterly Newsletter to keep its members and our supporters abreast of all the upcoming events, recaps from educational programming and alumni events, and overall, help to inform our membership of how to stay involved.

2025-26 Raiders Rojos Scholarship Breakfast

For the 2025 - 2026 Academic Year, Raiders Rojos awarded a Record Number 28 Scholarships, totaling $56,000 to current students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas Tech University at its annual Scholarship Breakfast held at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center on the campus of Texas Tech.

Icons and Symbols of the Borderlands Exhibit Poetry Reading | Texas Tech Museum

Raiders Rojos took part in sponsoring different elements of the Exhibit that had a home at the Texas Tech Museum from February 15 - August 24, 2025, including hosting a poetry night where local students from around Lubbock and its surrounding towns performed original poetry based on their impressions and viewing of the art from the exhibit. With many of the poems written and performed in Spanish, the evening saw over 2 dozen students perform in the Museum theatre. It was a beautiful night of poetry that Raiders Rojos was proud to be a sponsor of.

Raiders Rojos May 2025 Graduation Convocation

Raiders Rojos had another successful Fall May 2025 Convocation, this year hosted at the Overton Hotel & Conference Center. With the new guidance from the US Department of Education stating affinity groups could not have graduation events on campus, Raiders Rojos was forced to move its signature event to an off-campus location for the first time in decades. But, we did not go far, as we moved across the street and utilized the beautiful ballroom that is a part of the Overton’s Tech-themed hotel.

College Readiness Programming | LISD Elementary Students

Raiders Rojos has been serving Lubbock ISD schools for over 2 decades, providing students a chance to come on campus for programming that gets them college ready. Our goal is to continue to foster and build up our future Red Raiders through these programs that target to K-12 students. This event, brought 100s of Elementary Students from LISD schools Wolffarth, Anita Carmon-Harrison, and McWhorter Elementaries on campus to participate.

College Readiness Programming | LISD 12th Graders

Raiders Rojos has been serving Lubbock ISD schools for over 2 decades, providing students a chance to come on campus for programming that gets them college ready. Our goal is to continue to foster and build our future Red Raiders through these programs that cater to K-12 students. This event brought dozens of 12th Graders from Lubbock High School on campus to participate in programming that got them thinking about college, or other avenues that provide them many different ways to create and pursue a technical career. While Raiders Rojos is geared toward building education within under-served communities, we also want to provide students the knowledge that there are many ways to achieve their dreams.
