Since 2003, the Convocation has been an annual event that compliments Texas Tech University System's official graduation ceremonies held at the United Supermarkets Arena.
Raiders Rojos had another successful Fall May 2025 Convocation, this year hosted at the Overton Hotel & Conference Center. With the new guidance from the US Department of Education stating affinity groups could not have graduation events on campus, Raiders Rojos was forced to move its signature event to an off-campus location for the first time in decades. But, we did not go far, as we moved across the street and utilized the beautiful ballroom that is a part of the Overton’s Tech-themed hotel.
The event welcomed close to 250 honorees and their over 450 family members who gathered to celebrate the huge accomplishments from this year’s Red Raider graduates. Ginger Kerrick, who was the first female Hispanic Flight Director in NASA History and is a Texas Tech distinguished alumna, and a former Texas Tech Board of Regents member, was on hand as the May 2025 Convocation Keynote speaker. Her words of inspiration and story of perseverance left everyone in the room feeling they were the next person to go to the moon.
To all our amazing graduates: you’ve worked hard, overcome challenges, and now it’s your time to shine. Wherever your journey takes you next (maybe space like Ginger), remember — you’ll always be part of the Raiders Rojos familia.
