Icons and Symbols of the Borderlands Exhibit Poetry Reading | Texas Tech Museum

In an age where visual representations are fundamental to communication and lifestyle, icons and symbols are the key to ethical precepts, inspirations, and beliefs; they provide a framework for ideals, emotions, philosophy, and, ultimately, patterns of behavior. Icons and Symbols of the Borderlands exhibition is an embodiment of the landscape and cultural legacy of the U.S./Mexico borderland. Raiders Rojos took part in sponsoring different elements of the Exhibit that had a home at the Texas Tech Museum from February 15 - August 24, 2025, including hosting a poetry night where local students from around Lubbock and its surrounding towns performed original poetry based on their impressions and viewing of the art from the exhibit. With many of the poems written and performed in Spanish, the evening saw over 2 dozen students perform in the Museum theatre. It was a beautiful night of poetry that Raiders Rojos was proud to be a sponsor of.
